About the practice
Follow the question.
Work through the form.
Griot Studio is directed by Didier Akinlabi Osias. It brings research, design, and production together across images, publications, objects, and digital tools.

Listen. Synthesize. Cultivate.
The work starts with paying attention: to a person, a place, a material, or a problem. Research brings those observations together. Making gives us something to test, refine, and share.
Photography can become a publication. Material research can become an object or installation. A question about communication can become an app. The form serves the work, not the other way around.
Independent work.
Shared authorship.
Studio develops Griot’s own projects and works with others on commissions and collaborations. Each project identifies its relationship and credits the people whose work makes it possible.
Part of Griot.
Studio is where ideas take shape. Press gives publications and editorial work a place to circulate. Market brings available objects and editions into everyday use.
